Title
THE OPEN SOURCE GEOSTACK FOR ETHNOGRAPHIC RESEARCH
Abstract
This presentations outlines design decisions and challenges, reviews the planning process, and describes first experiences in the implementation of a database for ethnographic research based on open source tools. Goal of this project is to develop a repository that provides spatial information as well as qualitative and quantitative information. The long term vision is that the repository should include georeferenced fieldnotes and archival sources, be able to incorporate historical versions of the same map, allow for different levels of spatial accuracy, and be accessible to a public audience beyond researchers.
